The basics

What is TollNode?
A marketplace of ready-to-call tools for AI agents: web search, image generation and editing, text-to-speech, VIN decoding and more. Each tool is one HTTP endpoint with one clear price per call.
Do I need to sign up or get an API key?
No. There is no account, no API key and no subscription. Your agent sends a request, sees the price, pays it in USDC and gets the result in the same exchange.
Who is it for?
Agents first: Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and custom agents that can pay with x402. Developers use it too, to call many tools without juggling a dozen accounts.
Which tools are available?
The full list with prices is on the nodes page. We add new nodes regularly. See all nodes

Paying

How does payment work?
With x402, an open standard built on HTTP 402 Payment Required. The first response quotes the exact price. Your wallet signs a USDC payment for that amount and retries. TollNode runs the tool and collects the payment only if the result is usable. How payment works
What do I pay with?
USDC on the Base network. Make sure you send USDC on Base, not on Ethereum or another network, when you fund your agent's wallet.
Which wallets work?
Any x402 client. The quickest for Claude Code, Cursor and Codex is AgentCash: run npx agentcash add https://tollnode.com and fund the wallet it creates. Agents & MCP setup
Can I pay by card?
Not yet. Card payments for people using the website are planned. Today every call is paid in USDC.
Is there a minimum spend or monthly fee?
No. You pay per successful call, from half a cent upward. One dollar covers dozens to hundreds of calls, depending on the node.

Prices

Why do some nodes say “from”?
Their price depends on an option, such as image resolution or quality. Each node page lists every option and its price, and the 402 always quotes the exact price for the options in your request.
What if I leave the option out?
You get the default option, and the quote shows its price before you pay.
Can a price change after I've been quoted?
No. You pay the amount you signed for. If our prices change, the next quote shows the new price.

When things go wrong

What happens if a call fails?
You're not charged. A failed, empty or timed-out call never collects your payment, because the payment is only submitted after a usable result.
Do you give refunds?
There's nothing to refund for failed calls: the money never moves. If a successful call returned something clearly broken, email hello@tollnode.com with the transaction hash and we'll look into it.
I sent USDC on the wrong network. Is it lost?
Usually not. The funds sit at the same address on the other network, and moving them back needs a small network fee on that network. TollNode itself only accepts USDC on Base.
Why did I get a 400 error?
Your request didn't match the node's input schema, for example a missing field or an option that isn't offered. Nothing was charged. The error lists what to fix.

Results, privacy and receipts

How long are generated files available?
Permanently. Image and audio links returned by TollNode don't expire.
Who owns what I generate?
TollNode doesn't claim ownership of your outputs. Some underlying models have usage policies, for example against illegal content, and those still apply.
What do you store about my calls?
For each paid call: the paying wallet address, the request you sent, the result, the time, the IP address it came from, and the payment transaction. We keep this to deliver results, prevent abuse and meet legal obligations. We don't sell it. Privacy policy
Do I get a receipt?
Every successful call settles on-chain, and the response's PAYMENT-RESPONSE header contains the transaction hash. That transaction is your receipt.
Will you show my images on your site?
No. The examples on TollNode come from our own test runs. Customer outputs are never published.

For developers

Can my agent discover TollNode on its own?
Yes. We publish /openapi.json, /llms.txt, /.well-known/x402 and /.well-known/mcp.json, which agents and indexers read to learn every node, schema and price.
Are there rate limits?
Paid calls aren't rate-limited by us beyond what each tool can handle; very heavy use may be slowed to protect other users. The free VIN demo on the website is limited per IP.
How fast are the nodes?
Most answer in a few seconds. High-quality or 4K images can take up to a minute or two; the node pages say what to expect.
Can you add a tool I need?
Probably. Email hello@tollnode.com with what you'd like an agent to be able to buy.
